3 Port RF Transceiver Test System Example
The below schematic shows an example of a standard 3 port transceiver test system. Every possible path from port to port has its own programmable attenuator, so you can simulate changing distance in a mesh network. With this configuration you can vary the attenuation between radios. With Ethernet and RS-232 control, JFW can provide you with the remote commands to simplify your test setup such as Handover, Variable Handover, Fade Attenuator, and Pause.

4 Port RF Transceiver Test System w/2 RF Clouds
The below schematic shows an example of a 4 port transceiver test system with two RF Clouds.  The two RF clouds are used to create isolated groups of radios that simulate communication in different environments.  Each radio can be connected to either RF cloud by setting the 1P2T RF switches.  Once connected to a RF cloud, each attenuator can be varied from 0-127 x 1 dB to achieve RF signal fading between radios.  The isolation between RF clouds is dependant on the isolation of the RF switches.

Custom Models
The models listed in the above table showcase some of our standard transceiver test systems.  However, most of JFW’s test system business involves custom designed models. JFW does not charge NRE’s for custom models. We encourage you to email us your specific requirement (sales@jfwindustries.com). We will respond with a ROM (rough order of magnitude) quote in 1-2 days.

Remote Commands
JFW has standard remote commands for GPIB, Ethernet, and RS-232 controlled models. The command syntax is simple and allows easy control of the programmable attenuator settings. In addition to our standard commands, JFW can also provide customer specific commands upon request.

Test Software
JFW provides a GUI test program with all Ethernet and RS-232 controlled test systems. The test software for transceiver test systems has all of the remote commands built in for easy testing. In addition to the remote commands, the GUI test program has additional functionality such as keypress, handover, and indefinite handover. Check out our sample test programs to see for yourself.
